Elvis Featurette Highlights Austin Butler’s 3-Year Preparation for the Role

In anticipation of Elvis, Baz Luhrmann's biographical music drama slated to hit theaters on June 24, Warner Bros. Pictures has released a brand new featurette.

Check out the Elvis featurette below, which includes a commentary from Luhrmann, Austin Butler, and Tom Hanks about Butler's dynamic portrayal of Elvis Presley. 

Butler also discusses the three-year process of preparing for the role.

The film Elvis stars Austin Butler as Elvis's king, Tom Hanks as his manager Colonel Tom Parker, and Olivia DeJonge as Presley's wife. 

Helen Thomson plays Elvis's mother, Gladys, Richard Roxburgh plays Elvis's father, Vernon, Luke Bracey plays Jerry Schillin 

Natasha Bassett plays Dixie Locke, David Wenham plays Hank Snow, Kelvin Harrison Jr. plays B.B. King, Xavier Samuel plays Scotty Moore, and Kodi Smit-McPhee plays Jimmie Rodgers Snow.

The film is an examination of Elvis Presley's life and music through the prism of his complex relationship with his manager, Colonel Tom Parker. 

Presley's rise to fame and unsurpassed stardom is set against the backdrop of the evolving cultural landscape and loss of innocence in America, with Priscilla Presley, one of the most significant and influential people in his life.

As well as Dacre Montgomery as TV director Steve Binder, Leon Ford plays Tom Diskin, Kate Mulvany plays Marion Keisker, Gareth Davies plays  

Bones Howe, Charles Grounds plays Billy Smith, Josh McConville plays Sam Phillips, and Adam Dunn plays Bill Black. 

In the film, Yola plays Sister Rosetta Tharpe, Alton Mason plays Little Richard, Gary Clark Jr. plays Arthur Crudup, and Shonka Dukureh plays Willie Mae “Big Mama” Thornton.
