JoJo Siwa confirms her statement that she dislikes the word "lesbian."

After receiving criticism for not utilising the term "lesbian" to describe her sexuality, JoJo Siwa reaffirmed her position on the term.

Siwa, 19, said in a TikTok video Friday, "I've never called lesbian a nasty word and I never will.

It's not a dirty term, it's not a slur, and it's certainly not a word I'm embarrassed to use or to identify as in any way.

"Whenever someone asks me about my sexuality, I just answer that I'm gay," she concluded.

Siwa continued, assuring supporters,I don't detest the word lesbian.. I just personally don't like the sound of the word..

It's not the phrase that comes to mind when I think of it, if that makes sense.

The former "Dance Moms" star, who came out as gay in January 2021, explained after getting criticism for disliking the name "lesbian"

The singer said at the time, "I don't like the word itself," adding, "It's just, like 'lesbian,' it's just like a lot."
