‘The Lincoln Lawyer’ Dethroned In Netflix’s Top 10 List By A New Show
I have been writing a lot of columns where I talk about which new Netflix show has supplanted the old champion
but this is one of those instances when a title transfer was inevitable.
Stranger Things season 4 has dethroned The Lincoln Lawyer, which has been on top since its debut both in the US and in many other countries.
Despite the years-later season 4 debut, Stranger Things was creeping up the top 10 list already as people watched old episodes in preparation for the season 4 debut.
Now that the fourth season has premiered, the first seven episodes have taken the top spot a day after their debut.
During Stranger Things season 4, there are seven long episodes followed by a month-long break, followed by two enormous episodes totaling four hours in July.
There's still a promise of a fifth season after this, where we know for certain that's the last episode of the series. Minus if there's a spin-off.
It may seem like it's the format of a show coming to a close, but that's not the case.
There are reports that the split was due to production issues, but I'm sure Netflix will also enjoy chatting about Stranger Things a month from now rather than the usual binge-and-forget model they have now.
With such long episodes, I would expect Stranger Things to stay on top for at least a solid week, if not more, as it will take most people a while to finish this first part of the season.
As for The Lincoln Lawyer, it's just an unqualified success for Netflix, at least in terms of viewership.
