The Stranger Things hairstylist shaves David Harbour's head in one take and gives Millie Bobby Brown a buzz cut

Rob Pickens, the hair team, and Sarah Hindsgaul added volume and frizz to the fourth season of "Stranger Things"

The season featured approximately 250 wigs, according to Hindsgaul, who just received an Emmy nomination for best period and/or character hairstyling.  

Examples include the matching perms worn by Nancy (Natalia Dyer) and Karen Wheeler (Cara Buono), as well as Eddie Munson's dusty rocker style.

The 1980s were all about movement, according to Hindsgaul. I find the 1980s to be fascinating and liberating, but it can be quite challenging to avoid making it seem stuffy. 

Hindsgaul considered it essential that each character's haircut matches their emotional condition and developmental stage as they negotiate the challenging environment of high school. 

It's a characteristic of that age when you look up to other people and experiment with new things, according to her, and that's how you discover who you are. 

She noted that Lucas' (Caleb McLaughlin) high-top fade is a manifestation of his "eager[ness] to blend in" with Hawkins High's popular students and "seeking to break out from his group." 

Meanwhile, Mike (Finn Wolfhard) is mostly inspired by his new hero, breakthrough favourite Eddie Munson, for his longer hairstyle this season (Joseph Quinn).
