U.S. basketball star Griner acknowledges Russian drugs , but does not deny the intention

KHIMKI, Russia (Reuters) -U.S. basketball player Brittney Griner admitted to  

the charge of using drugs at an Russian judge on Thursday, 

but did not admit to having intentionally violated the law. 

Griner spoke at the second hearing in her trial for the charge of narcotics 

which carries the possibility of 10 years in prison.  

This comes just days after she called for U.S. President Joe Biden to get her released.

"I'd like to plead guilty, your honour. But there was no intent.  

didn't want to break the law," Griner stated, speaking in quiet English that was later translated into Russian to the court.
